Pistoia is bidding to host the fifteenth edition of Eurogym, the largest European gymnastics event for young people aged 12-18.
Pistoia 7, June 2024 – This morning the Presentation of Pistoia’s candidature to host the Fifteenth Edition of Eurogym, the largest European gymnastics event for young people aged 12-18, will be held at the Chianti Banca headquarters in Largo Treviso, 3
Over the last year the Local Organizing Committee chaired by Prof. Alessandra Mazzatosta in collaboration with the Municipality of Pistoia and the Italian Gymnastics Federation has worked to build the City’s candidacy.
Next June 14th and 15th the Technical Commission of the EG (European Gymnastics Federation) will meet in Dublin to assign the event. The President Alessandra Mazzatosta and the Councilor Simone Monaco will represent the Local Organizing Committee there.
WHAT IS EUROGYM
It is a non-competitive gymnastics festival aimed at young people aged between 12 and 18.
The event is biennial.
It is assigned by the executive committee of the EUROPEAN GYMNASTICS FEDERATION (EG) on the basis of a tender.
The program focuses on sporting activities, entertainment, exchanges and meetings between peoples and young generations.
Thousands of young people from all over Europe will fill the city with their joy and energy.
The program includes an opening ceremony with a parade through the streets of the city, a gala and a closing ceremony as well as performances by the groups.
Tourist excursions are also planned which will allow participants to discover the beauties of Pistoia, its province and the entire Tuscany region.
The gymnasts will present their productions to the public on various stages located throughout the city, will participate every morning in various sports workshops/laboratories and will be involved in cultural and recreational activities.
The event is inclusive and open to people with disabilities.
